What airport do I fly into?
We are located approximately half way between the Cabo airport (SJD) and the airport in La Paz (LAP). You will probably find a better selection of flights and more reasonable prices at the Los Cabos airport.
How do I get to Cerritos from the airport?
It's about a 1 1/2 hour drive from the Los Cabos airport. Take the new toll road. Make a right when you get to the freeway and head toward Cabo San Lucas. When you get to Cabo make a right at the Bull Ring and follow the signs to Todos Santos. We are located at KM 67. Make a left at the paved access road directly across from the Cerritos Beach Club billboard.
Should I rent a car?
We recommend you rent a car. Todos Santos is about 10 minutes away. It's a great little town with a traditional Mexican flare that you won't find in Cabo San Lucas. There is a cultural center and museum as well as a number of tasty restaurants to try. If you prefer not to drive and just want to relax at the resort during your stay we offer airport transfer for $150 each way.
Where should I stock up on supplies?
If you like the familiarity of home we recommend shopping in Cabo on your way to Cerritos. Cabo has a Costco, Walmart and Sam's Club for items in bulk as well as a couple of other large Mexican grocery chains, Chedraui and Soriana. They are all located on the main roads on the right hand side en route to Cerritos.
What about local markets?
If you'd rather skip the large grocery chains there are plenty of nearby local markets to choose from. You can select fresh caught fish from local fisherman brought right to the beach. Pescadero is an organic farming community and fresh picked produce can be bought from farms and roadside stands as well as little shopping markets in Pescadero and Todos Santos.
If you're not staying long, don't want to bother cooking or are just in a hurry to get here there are a number of local restaurants to choose from.
We also offer grocery stocking if you want supplies but don't want to do it yourself. You can send our concierge a list and we'll make sure the fridge and pantry are full when you get here.
What should we do when we get there?
That all depends on what you're in the mood for. We specialize in one-of-a-kind experiences and adventures custom designed for each family or traveler. We don't offer a cookie cutter approach to travel.
If you just want to relax bring a book, grab a lounge chair or book a massage. We're especially good in this area. We offer all of the luxury and convenience of a high-end resort in Cabo San Lucas but without the crowds, noise or high prices.
If you're looking for adventure try a surf lesson right on our beach, diving or wind surfing in La Paz, golf or sport fishing in Cabo. We can help you with suggestions and reservations.
Can I drink the water?
Yes our water goes through a double filtration system and is perfectly safe to drink and brush your teeth with.
Where should we eat?
The Cerritos Beach Club offers breakfast, lunch and dinner and is a five minute walk down the beach. With free wifi and NHL, NFL and NBA.
There are also a number of excellent choices nearby in Pescadero and Todos Santos. We've put a book of suggestions, with hours and directions in the room for you to browse through when you arrive. Not known for long lines and crowds most restaurants can accommodate you on short notice or with no notice at all. If however, you're celebrating a special occasion or traveling during a peak holiday period and wish to make reservations please let us know and we'll be happy to help you decide where to celebrate and to make the reservations for you.
We also can throw a private party or event for you right here at our resort.
Is it safe?
Yes. Very. Geographically we are very far from any of the border town violence you hear about in the news. And onsite we have gated security for your peace of mind and to keep uninvited guests from enjoying our amenities.
Is it safe to swim?
Yes! Cerritos is the only safe and swimmable beach on the Pacific in all of Los Cabos. It's perfect for swimmers and surfers of all ages. It is shallow for about 30 meters and then a surf break just beyond that. We're one of the only beaches to have certified life guards trained in the United States.
What's the weather like?
We have mild temperatures year round mostly in the 70's and 80's during the day. September and October are the hottest months sometimes with temperatures in the 90's. We are much cooler than nearby San Lucas or La Paz where temperatures can be unbearably hot all summer long. We average 15 degrees cooler with a nice Pacific breeze.
It can sometimes be cool at night and we recommend you pack a sweater or something warm for the evenings. We have cozy Mexican blankets and heaters at the restaurant and fire pits and jacuzzi tubs to warm up in as well.
What kind of money should I use? Where can I get money?
The Mexican peso (MNX) is the official currency. Most places will accept US dollars but will give you change in pesos so it can be difficult to make sure you are getting correct change. You can exchange dollars for pesos in any bank but new laws have made it somewhat confusing. There are different rules at different banks restricting the amount of dollars you can exchange. Some banks will not allow you to exchange unless you are an account holder.
There are a number of ATM machines in town and at the banks. This will be the easiest way for you to get cash. Most banks will give you pesos and a daily limit of $5,000 (at the current exchange rate of 13 that's approximately $385 USD). Other ATM machines located on the street or in the gas station will have a lower limit and higher fees.
*Please check the current exchange rate as of the date of your travel*
Our resort and the Cerritos Beach Club accepts credit cards. Most small markets and restaurants will be cash only.
*Be sure to notify your bank and credit card company before you travel so your cards do not get restricted by the fraud department*
Do you have wireless?
Yes we do. It works great at the palapa by the pool. There is also wireless at the Beach Club just down the beach and they have great food and margaritas too!
What if I want to call home?
Depending on your carrier you may or may or may not have service in Cerritos. You need to call back home you have a couple of options:
The resort has free wifi. You can use services like Skype to communicate outside of Mexico.
Your own cell phone may work here. You would need to check with you carrier before you travel. There are two cell sites nearby and many services do work here. To dial from Mexico to the US you need to dial 001 and then the area code and number.
